This is the cheapest phone plan I could find, and I've tested it for almost two months now! For $5 a month, I get unlimited texting and 100 minutes of talk. Conversations have been clear and I've had great coverage!
I don't get any data, but I have plenty of places to go to for FREE wifi, so that doesn't need to be something I pay for yet. If data is something you need, Tello has lots of options. Even their unlimited options aren't terribly pricey.
I may receive a percentage on orders placed using affiliate links.
When I first found Tello, I was nearing graduation and trying to put together a budget that would allow writing to pay all of my bills. Here's the thing: most writers don't earn a lot of money. So one way I went about making sure writing could pay my bills was to lower the amount of bills I had. That lowered the amount of money I had to make, making it more achievable to live off my pen. At Tello, unlimited data and unlimited minutes (all plans come with unlimited texts!!!) costs $29 which is standard for budget phone bills.
While $29/month is a totally reasonable phone bill, I was on the hunt for the lowest phone bill possible. And at Tello, there are two different options for $5.00/month:
No data with 100 minutes of talk
500 MB and no minutes
Like I said earlier, I don't need data since I can connect to wifi for free, so being able to have 100 minutes of call time and unlimited texting made sense to me. I've been using Tello for almost two months now and I love it. It only costs $5 a month, calls are clear, and texts come through without a problem. If lowering your phone bill is something you are interested in, you can sign up here and receive $10 to use towards your phone bill or a new phone. That's could be two whole months FREE! Or, you can mix and match to come up with the perfect plan for you!
One of the perks of Tello is that I can renew my account a few days early and have data or minutes roll over and accumulate. If I know I'm going to have a busy season coming up or traveling, having extra data or minutes could come in handy and now I don't have to pay for extra or lose any that I've paid for and not used. I've been able to work my budget down significantly, and Tello has been a major player in that.
